A strike of lightning lit up the room, startling a tall beautiful Dark skinned girl who had been writing something on an old looking scroll. She could feel a light breeze on her neck, she looked back at the old rusty window over her bed, the wind managed to squeeze through a small crack in the window.

After closely examining the old window, she continued writing, for the first time Bellatrix felt calm. The pencil fell onto the ground, making the tip snap off. She reached for the pencil, She strained to get it, her fingertips were so close.

“BANG BANG.” someone knocked on the door managing to shake the door enough to make Bellatrix feel the vibration. “WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT?” Yelled Bellatrix in frustration.

Not too long after, the door swung open, only to reveal a tall, coloured skinned woman, standing in the doorway with a stern look on her face. “Bellatrix rainier!” yelled the menacing woman. “Bellatrix, we don’t use those kinds of words in this household, and not to your sister.” Bellatrix looked down in shame. Trying to make the woman guilty.

Bellatrix continued on. “Oh yes- uh what did you need.. Victoria Rainier?” taunted Bellatrix. Victoria ignored Bellatrix. “It’s time to train, the Reaping is in a few days, and I need to know for sure, if you get picked you will be ready.” Replied Victoria, glancing at the rusty window that was barely holding against the wind. “Oh yes I forgot, please get dressed in clothes you wouldn’t care about getting muddy in.” insisted Victoria, as she walked out of the room. “So annoying.” scoffed Bellatrix.

She looked under her bed only to see a pair of black pants and a red shirt, both covered in mud and dirt. “ Oh well- i don’t think it matters if these dirty rags get mud on them, since they already do-” mumbled Bellatrix, as she reached under the bed, her arms were covered in mud and dust, and so were the clothes. “Come on Bellatrix! Who takes that long to put on some pants and a shirt?” Yelled Victoria, probably waiting at the front of the house, or even on top..

Bellatrix quickly slipped on the ragged clothes and rushed out of the room, not even thinking about eating something. She jumped out the door, into the rain, She had forgotten that it was raining, and perhaps pouring with rain. It was like she was under a waterfall. “ Hey! Come on, let’s go!” called out Victoria, who was already on her way to the training area. Bellatrix was too caught up in thinking about the reaping, her attention came back, and she rushed after Victoria. “Victoria, where are we going again?” Questioned Bellatrix. “Don’t you remember? We’re going to train, silly!” replied Victoria, tapping Bellatrix’s forehead, signalling for her to listen next time.

Victoria smiled at Bellatrix, but not too long after something didn’t seem quite right according to her facial expression. “Hey, where’s the gold snake armband mum gave you?” Asked Victoria, with a concerned look and voice.
“ Cant you see? Its right here!” replied Bellatrix, showing her right arm, that Victoria couldn’t see. Ever since Bellatrix was little she would follow her Mother around like a little duck, everything was perfect, i mean- not the “killing to the death part” but everything else. After every dinner, her mother would call down her and Victoria. She’d tell us stories about the past victories and how heroic they were. “Once there was a girl called Lucy Gray, she performed almost everyday! Singing on stage, and dancing, Lucy Gray was from district 12! Victoria, Isn’t that your favorite District?” said Mother. “No way! This is my favorite district!” Protested Victoria.

Victoria pointed at the number seven engraved on the wall. Mother just laughed at us, and kept on telling the stories about the other victors. But all that happiness drained away when Mother died. It was time for story-time, me and Victoria waited for a while. The darkness slowly crept over the little house, so we eventually decided to check up on Mother. As we walked towards Mothers room, a strong stench lingered in the hallway.

My heart was beating as fast as it ever did before, i could tell Victoria wasn’t sure about checking up on her, of course she wasn’t, Victoria had always been a chicken shit, i always had to go with her to the bathroom, we always had to sleep with a candle lit. I’d gotten used to doing things first,
